Counseling Center Mission Statement

 

To prepare students to become confident and productive citizens who are able to compete in our rapidly changing society.  In partnership with administrators, teachers, parents, and the community, Terrebonne Parish Professional School Counselors provide a support system to encourage all students to achieve both academic and personal goals.

Child Protective Services

To report abuse or neglect, call DCFS Child Protective hotline at 1-855-4LA-KIDS (1-855-452-5437) toll free 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Counselors Help Students:

 

  • Individually and in groups with their concerns, plans, and goals
  • Understand and accept themselves and others
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships
  • Learn decision making and interpersonal skills
  • Gain optimum benefit from their school experience

     

Counselors Help Parents:

 

  • Better understand the social and psychological aspects of child development
  • Work with the school to plan their child’s education
  • Learn more about school programs
  • To keep track of their child’s academic progress
  • Become aware of community resources available to them and their children

 

Help School Staff:

 

  • Understand individual student needs
  • Promote communication with parents
  • Use resources in planning for students

Counselors Are Involved In:

 

  • Working with Grade Level Teams in developing activities
  • Counseling students regarding career planning and preparation
  • Aiding students who are experiencing family, academic, or emotional stress
  • Utilizing one-on-one counseling sessions
  • Consulting with parents, teachers, and other educators to best meet the needs of the students
  • Referring to other school support services or community resources
