Principal Blog

Dear parents and students!

Throughout the first half of the school year, we are continuing to see improvements in the academic progress of our students in Math and Language Arts. This year, state testing for 8th graders is high stakes testing - all 8th grade students must pass the Language Arts and math components of the state test with a basic or higher in order to attend high school next year. In the upcoming months, we will be offering after school tutoring and increased remediation time for students to improve and grow as we prepare for the upcoming state test. After examining all of the current grades, test scores, and benchmark tests, we will begin to provide targeted remediation to address student weaknesses and to increase student achievement. If you are interested in signing your 8th grade student up for after school tutoring, please contact the school. Transportation will be provided for those students who attend after school tutoring.

We are also so happy to report that we have expanded our one-to-one technology capabilities in several classrooms as a result of your support in our initial Flight of the Feather 5K and Fun Run. We will now have six Chrome tablet mobile labs using Google classroom to present lessons and assess student progress. With your continued support, our goal to increase the number of Chrome tablet labs will become a reality. We are continuing to train teachers to implement Google classroom and will continue to provide opportunities for all students to utilize technology in the classroom.

We will continue to improve our communications with you through our Twitter account. As always, we encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns - your children are our first priority.
